OPT --> H1b Break

Hi,

Right now I am on F1 (OPT). My OPT expires May 15 07. I could not make it to H1 this year and the earliest I can get H1 is Oct 07. My employer is ready to wait for 4.5 months (May 15 -- Oct 01). Is there any other way around this ??

I m thinking of staying in India for those 4.5 months. Is that a good thing ? Do I need to attend an interview for my h1b stamping ??

Ask your company to move you to their India office temporarily. Nowadays almost every US company has a branch in India. You could work there for 4-5 months and then get back. Even if they don't you could apply for jobs on monsterindia.com in april 07.

Unfortunately my company does not have a branch in India. They have branches in the europe and a few places in asia. I ll talk with them regarding this.

While reentering the US do I need to attend an interview in the Indian consulate ??
