OPT and need to visit India and Safely come back

Hello.
Appreciate any inputs/experiences in advance.

Background info:
Am in USA . Student visa for period Jan 2005-Jan 2010. However already finished my MS(Technology) in May 2006. Presently I am on approved OPT since 07/24/2006 , expires 07/19/2007

On 11/16/2006 (4 days back) I got job from a consulting firm, and now I am starting to do consulting for a client on their behalf for a long term contract.
(Employer has verbally promised to file my H1B as quota opens in April.)
Although OPT started in Aug, job is starting only in November.


Issue:
I need to attend Brother's wedding in Jan for 3 weeks to India and come back to USA without any isseues at immigration.



Question:
What preparation should I make to ensure 100% safe return to USA without any issues at immigration ?

you need your current i20 which has not been expired, EAD card and employment letter for returning back to US

Thanks. But my I-20 is expiring in December (although my visa goes uptill 2010). How to go about it in this case?

I did not understand significance of I-20 when I already have OPT card ?
Can you please explain if you could ?

when you applied for th opt on the third page of you i20 they will enter your opt starting date and ending date, eventhough on the front page says it is expired that i20 is valid
