I just got FULLTIME job offer from a well know US company who wants me to start the job from June of this year.I have finished all my course work except for 1 credit hour independent study, which i'm planning to take in the summer semester June - Aug, and will graduate in Aug. If I apply for OPT now, I will probably not get it by June, thus I wanted to apply for OPT now and apply for CPT and work on it until I get my OPT which probably will take 2-3 months of time.
But my school advisor is not sure if I could accept the position as a FULL TIME position, instead they want me to convert the offer to an INTERNSHIP until Aug and from then on as a FULLTIME offer.But I'm a little scared to do so since I'm not sure how my prospective employer will take this change and what will be their stand in this regards. So i have couple questions :
1. From my understanding big firms won't really honor such requests is it true ? i.e changing the offer to an Internship and then into a Fulltime later in Aug, and if not, then
2. Is it true that we definetly need to have an INTERNSHIP on the offer letter and cannot accept a FULLTIME position on CPT ??
3. How long does it usually take to get the OPT if i apply it today or sometime this week ??
If any one has come accross such situation then please guide me appropriately. All suggestions are welcome.
