  • J1 to H1B - expertise of Mr.Subramanya needed!

    Hi,
    My first happy posting!

I am a teacher completing my stay in the US and J1 expires on July 15, 2007.

Meanwhile, I have won the lottery (first time in my life) and got my petition file number too, from the USCIS.

Is there a way to continue my stay by any extension, so that I could do justice to my teaching from the new academic year, which begins in mid of August, instead of entering in October 2007 when the H1B comes into effect?

I would appreciate any one's or some one's expertise on this matter.

    Regards.

    Help for teacher position

    Sir,
Though my message doesn't help you, I need snall help from you. I would like to know more details how to come to USA for a teacher job and any agencies that sponsor for visa. I'm very seriously searching for this info but don't get proper details from anyone. I live in USA and want to bring my sister who is working as a teacher in India. It would be of great help if could give the details on the process.

    Thanks a lot in advance

Universities are exempt from the H1 Cap and they can do H1 at any point...not sure about schools. You need to find out about this. I recommend searching on this.Another thing is whether your sister meets the qualifications for an H1.
Note that this is not a legal advice. Consult your immigration attorney for the best upto-date information.
