  • US sponsor for F1 visa

    Hello,

My husband is in US on H1 and we are planning to co-sponsor my sister's F1 visa. Could you please let me know if there are any problems if a person residing in US sponsors for a student visa because some say that visa may be rejected because of this and some others say that its good and should pose no problems as all the documents we provide are geniune.

    Thanks
    Neelu.

You know what they say: a man with a watch knows what time it is. A man with two watches is never sure.

So some people told you it is OK, some others told you it is not OK. If I tell you it is NOT ok, and someone else here tells you it is - which one will you believe ?

Truth is: unless your sister has reasons to go back to India after finishing her studies, she probably won't get it. But if she applies without your sponsorship, she's probably going to be asked if anyone else on her family is living in the US - so she either has to lie (never a good choice), or tell the truth, and then be asked a bunch additional questions.

So: how many watches do you want to have ?

Your sister can get the F1 from the university why rely on you when the uni can get her one?

Secondly I have known people who have gone like this on F1 and they have their sister in the US and note that they will know if you are lieing or not. I believe the folks at the consulate do have info on whether you are at US or not. I agree people ask you to lie. I know people who have said the truth and faced no problems, neither did they ask anything further. He got the visa too.
I dont see a problem at all. Do not lie, they can pull up information and can get details.
Note that this is not a legal advice. Consult your immigration attorney for the best upto-date information.
