  • question about transferring OPT status between colleges?

I just completed my associate's degree in commmunity college and I was on OPT. I got accepted to another University to complete my Bachelor's degree in my field. Is there any way I can get an OPT without much loss of time with the new transfer?

Also if I'm not eligible for OPT but if I get the CPT instead, after my graduation is there any way I could get a temporary work permit like an OPT or a CPT for a year?

    To Nev

You are entitled to an OPT for every educationnal level you accomplish, for instance you completed an Associate...you had an OPT...
And you are going for a bachelor , you will get an OPT again, and so on with your Master, PHD ...etc
Transferring while on OPT ,be careful on the expiration of it.From the expiration ,you will have 60 days to transfer you sevis records to your new school in order to secure another I-20.Faliure to do it in a timely manner will jeopardize your status,I mean put you out of status.
    Beware of that!
    Good luck
