i'm with J1 training until sept, did my extension, so i will have 2 go home, my question is: if the company that i work for is a non-profit organization can they sponsor me for H1B viza, if yes when can we apply? is there a certain period of time?

I think non-profit organizations can sponsor H1-B and it is not counted under the regular H1-B quota. It's better to get advise from lawyer.

NGO's are exempt from the H1-b cap. You can apply immediately.However some NGO's are not considered to be under this, you need to check with the NGO's attorney on this. I have come across certain NGO's which come back saying "yes we are an NGO but we dont come under this".
If they come under this exemption ,they can start your H1 immediately and can have start dates at any time in the year unlike companies which need to have Oct1st.
