Hello,
I'm an graduate student at a US grad school on F1 visa since July 2006.I have got an internship opportunity at a reputed MNC in Switzerland frm
Jan-June 2008.
From what I gather from the resources online,it seems I would have to re-apply for an F1 visa as my stay outside US exceeds 5 months and also apply for F1 re-instatement on my return to US in June 2008?
However,my school's international programs office says i will have to take a break from studies & not have to re-apply for F1 as my current F1 visa is valid till June 2011. As per them I can re-enter US in June '08 using the current Visa & a new I-20 issued by them.Also,as per them I will be eligible for the Optional Practical Training ,which requires the student to be enrolled continuously for 1 academic year.
Pl let me know:
1..Will I have to re-apply for F1 ?
2..In either case(new F1/current F1) will I
have to apply for F1 status re-
instatement? If yes,how long does it take?
Can I work on-campus during this period?
3..As I will graduate in August 2008,will I be
eligible for the Optional Practical
Training?
