Can anybody tell if with a F1 student visa i am allowed to work? At the school they say that I have to wait for 2 semesters before I'm allowed to work...is this what the Federal Law says or is the college rule?

F1 students can work 20hours/week on campus only.I dont see the reason for waiting for 2 months. Remember only on-campus jobs..working outside this is against the law. You need to go to "International Student services" and contact your immigration specialist. I am 100% sure you can work on campus immediately.
