buying airline ticket for F1 visa holder

I have been granted a F1 student visa for my study to start in September 2007. My study lasts for 8 months, I just want to know if I must purchase return flight ticket from Australia to USA, or can I purchase one way tickets as well? I do have intention to return as I am taking leave from absence from my current workplace in Australia to study overseas. I am wanting to purchase a one way ticket first is because it's cheaper than buying a return ticket.

You can purchase one way ticket for entry on student visa.
