Change in status from B1/B2 to F1

Hey guys,

My girlfriend will be traveling to US and seeking admission as a tourist. Though her prime objective is travel and tourism, she's considering taking up a course at school.
If she get her I-20, can she get her visa classification / status changed to F-1, without having to travel back to India for a fresh stamping ?

Improper use of tourist visa i.e. abuse.
Change of status may not be granted as she'll be entering US on tourist visa with an intent to seek admission in a school as an student. Thus, you lied on the DS-156 form when applying for tourist visa otherwise tourist visa would not have been granted.
