  • Being parents on H1-B chances of H4 to F1

My parents are in US on H1-B. I am finishing high school from US.

I need F1 to study here in undergraduate to be entitle for scholarship/funding and to be on F1, I need to show ties to My country of CItizenship. Now being my parents here and working , I am worried that I may be denied F1. Please guide how to prepare for Visa Interview and what documents will prove my ties to native in this situation.
    Thanks!

You can be a dependant and study? Ask your parents about this.Am sure you are a dependant,so wouldnt you be allowed to pursue your studies just like how you did your high school?
Note that this is not a legal advice. Consult your immigration attorney for the best upto-date information.

        No financial assistance/ work authorization.

        Thanks topcatin!!

As per my parents, I may not get any scholarships/ fellowship assistance for studying.
No authorization to work in University on research projects etc.
No OPT will be available in that case.
        Please confirm and advise.
        Thanks!!!

It is best to ask the university's international student services about this.Thats what I would do.Contact the university you plan to join and ask them your options. I guess by the time you finish your studies your parents will have a green-card and you will automatically come under that? So why worry about OPT or work authorizations during this period. For now you need to study,so take things one at a time. And then if you continue to do your masters, you can then apply for H1 under masters...all this is a long way.My guess is probably when your done with your under-grad your parents would have become greencard-holders.Keep in mind that scholarships and assitantships are tough to get for under-grad.Very few universities provide funding for undergraduates whether you are an US citizen or an immigrant. One more thing am sure your parents have given you the best info because your parents would have thought of all this and consulted with their attorney.
