Any one travelling on OPT

Hi
I completed my PhD this summer and now i am on OPT. I also have a job. I have heard that people on my status can travel to their home land (in my case India) without any problem.

I want to know about the issues which one might face during his/her re-entry to the US or are there are people who have travelled on an OPT and can share their experiences. It would really be wonderful on your part.

It has been advised by most universities immigration specialist that travelling during OPT is risky.Find out from your Universitie's "International student services"

The reason you may be sent back are :
You do not have a job offer.
They may ask why are you coming back just for one year?


However there have been cases where students havent faced problems and there are the ones who were sent back.
If you want to go during OPT,the following will be good to take along with you:
A letter from the university stating that you are coming back to do your Phd and if any classes...the letter should state that you are enrolled for x credits for xyz courses.

Get a letter from the professor you will be working with if any,that you are doing a project with him.
