Hi,
Planning to change from H-4 to F-1 status. Currently in US.
1. Do we need to apply through a lawyer or can be done on our own just by filling I-539 form and submitting it to USCIS..?
2. What is the USCIS fees and if it needs to file through a lawyer how much it costs in general..?
3. How the application is sent to a processing center (vermont, nebraska etc)..? Is it depending on our US physical address or can we choose and specify in the form..?
4. What is the average processing time for coversion..?
4. Let's suppose if H-4 has been cancelled or expired for any reason (ex: on the event of divorce) and if we apply for change of status to F-1 just before cancellation/expiration. Is it going to be legal to stay during its processing time..?
I appreciate your insight on this. Thank you.
Rama.
