Tourist thinking of studying.

I am currently on a Tourist visa in the US, I have been considering of studying here because it would be very beneficial for me when I go back to work in the Philippines. Can I apply for the student visa while I am here in the US? or look into schools and then apply from my home country? Thanks a lot.

This is not a good thing to do because when filing for your tourist visa, you have mentioned in your application process that you will come back,nor will you find work here nor will you study here. Crossing any of these will result in "potential immigrant" and US consulate can stop you on these lines. I am sure you cannot convert your B2 visa or tourist visa to F1(Student visa) even if you wanted to.
The best is to go back to your home country and then apply for F1 visa and come back to study.
