F1 to H1.

I am graduating this May (0f 2008) and I would like to know if I would be able to file H1 for this years quota. My classes actually ends on Aprl 20th. I will be on OPT but would really like to get H1 if possible. Is this a good idea or should I just wait for next years quota ? anyone in similiar situation. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks !!

no u cant apply for h1 in masters quota in 2008. u can apply in general quota in which its not so easy to get. you can apply in 2009 in masters quota. But first mistake you made is a student who seeks H1 should never graduate in may or aug semesters. bcoz u cant apply for H1 this year, u have apply in 2009. then you will get H1 in oct, 2009. But by may,2009 your OPT will expire. so all students please graduate only in december semester and u try to take a break, and finish ur graduation in dec,2008. thats better for u
