I got admission in both MA and PhD program in Wayne State University English program, without any funding from the Department. I showed my interest for the PhD program, so the International Office is preparing my I-20 to be sent to me for the PhD program in English. Now I found in the WSU website that approximate expenses are (including tuition fee and living expenses) $30000 per year. I sent my bank statement of my father's account showing about $31500. So it is expected that on my I-20, $30000 will be written on the left hand side and $31500 will be shown as the funding from my father on the right hand side). It is sure that PhD program will be shown as of 5 years duration in my I-20. Can anybody suggest me how much money i need to show in my father's account to get my F-1 visa approved? I think i need to get bank loan sanctioned before appearing the visa interview (Calcutta Visa Consulate). Kindly suggest me how much loan i should get sanctioned? Can anybody suggest other important information related to the PhD visa interview without funding from the School? I am really tensed and eagerly seeking for kind responses.
