  • L1 to F1 visa - HELP

    Hi All,

I am on an L1 visa currently in the USA. I plan to study in the near future in the US and have started to appy to colleges.
    My question is:
    1) I know that either I can change my status her in the US, or go back to India and file for a F1 visa. But, I am confused as to what is the best option? Can anybody please help?
    2) if I change my status here in the USA, will it be a problem later on for OPT, and later on for H1B if at all offered by a company?

Any help will be greatly appreciated....

    1. There is no best option here. You can apply for COS and study and go for stamping when you visit your home country. F1 visa approval depends on ties to home country.

    2. No issues.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

        Docs Needed

        Hi bhowmisu,

I am on the same boat. Have you filed for your COS from L1 to F1. If so what are the documents that we need to provide.

        bye
