When I departed USA for Korea in Aug 2004, the airlines didn't tear off the white I-94 card from my old passport (I had made a new passport while in the USA due to expiry of the old one.) My US stay has been on a 2nd F1 visa stamp for 5 yrs then, for finishing my PhD. I had also used the OPT period and its 2 months of grace period, but I departed in time: my departure date was one day before the grace period expiry date.
At that time I assumed that not surrendering I-94 is not a big deal, that probably it wasn't needed for F1 visa departures. But now I need to return to the US next month via a business visa to visit the US office of my current employer. I had lived/worked in Korea for 2 yrs after departing the US and then returned to India in 2006.
Is it important for me to submit the I-94 to the CBP address in Kentucky before applying for my US business visa? As evidence of my last departure, I only possess the passport stamp showing entry into the next country i.e. Korea in 2004. I don't possess the boarding pass. Will that matter? Do I strictly need more evidence of my stay in Korea like employment letter, payslips? Also the CBP instructions say "you should copy all passport pages that are not completely blank", not just copy the particular page containing the entry stamp into the next country. Is my understanding correct?
Thanks,
-Pksh.
