  • F1 Visa Third Attempt- Please help

    Hi,
I got my visa application rejected twice because I was going for second masters. Now I plan to go for Ph.D. Are there any chances of getting visa because I tried twice for masters?
Any suggestion regarding third visa application will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

How long has it been since the previous rejection? What was the rejection for? If your familial/financial ties have improved significantly since the last rejection, you can try again.

F1 Visa Third Attempt -Please Help

I was rejected on June 9, 2008. The rejection was because I already have a masters degree and I applied for visa for second masters and finances are not a problem. Now I am planning to apply for Ph.D.
      Please help.

@upan: personally I think you could apply again...if you have an I-20 that proves that you're admitted into a PhD program, and as you said financial backgrounds are good....then you could apply again. Although with the limited info you gave, not sure if there's anything that would lower your risk of getting an F1 visa....
        Anyway, good luck!

The VO would think that you are applying again for the same program as of the previous rejection. They may not have record that it was for MS and the new one is for PhD. I would say, the risk of rejection is high with your last rejection being just couple of days earlier.

F1 Visa Third Attempt -Please Help

My rejection was due to second masters as now I am going for Ph.D. in different school, therefore I have to transfer my Sevis fee and I think the VO would know about the transfer of Sevis and therefore about the change of program. I donot find any other reason of rejection because I have good financial support, my academic background & test scores are well and none of my close relatives live in U.S. but I do not have a job at hand.

You have admit, funding and are working on SEVIS transfer.

What ties do you have in your home country - family property,...?

What did they ask you about? What did you show as proof of property?

F1 Visa Third Attempt -Please Help

VO did not ask me any thing about my financial status, she asked, "who is going to pay your fee?".
And my father is sponsoring me. I took the papers showing the property in name of my father, to the interview.
Please advice, regarding the third interview. VO may ask me that you have been rejected twice and now you are attempting for a different program. What should be my answer then?
                    Thanking you in advance.

                        finacial status

                        Hi ,

I would suggest dont say your father is sponsoring you. This is india, single family member can not sponsor unless their income is very high. The otherway around is either family or parents are sponsoring you. If not, even they dont look at your financial documents.

                        all the best

Does he have sufficient readily available resources (savings, cash - not property that would have to be sold) to cover the costs of the entire program? The program costs are tuition, fees and living expenses.

He most likely did not believe that your father's assets were sufficient. If this is indeed the case, there is not much you can do.

Also, your plans do not seem very well thought out. Getting a PhD is not an afterthought. From your statements, it appears that you are planning to use the student visa to put yourself in the US just to look for a job. This is not an acceptable use of the F1. This may not be your plan but is how it is coming off.

                            Thanks C4us for your reply.
I applied for masters because many people told me the Indian masters is not equivalent to that in U.S. but the visa officer refused visa because I already have a master degree. How can I convince him regarding my intent to study in U.S. and I am not going to stay there?
                            Looking for your respone.
