  • RE: OPT help

    Hello,

This is Priya and I have finished my MS in Dec'07. Iam currently on my OPT and I didnt get H1 in the 2008 lottery and my visa expires in Dec'08 (granted only 2 years of F1). So I want to know if I should take up another course and go for a visa extension to Mexico, Canada or any other country. Or rather apply for a visa extension on OPT.

Can you please guide me through the process of obtaining a F1 visa extension on OPT????

    Please help me.

    Thanks in advance,
    Priya. N

Are you eligible for STEM OPT extension?

    Read this:

I hope you know that a visa is only needed to enter the U.S. If you do not plan to travel, don't worry about it.

Thanks for your timely reply. Iam eligible for STEM OPT extension however the main problem is I have to travel to India sometime soon may be in september or October. So I was thinking if you can guide me to go for visa extension on OPT or an other course(MS or PhD).

Please suggest me as what should be done.

        Hello,

To avoid the risk of going to India on OPT I have taken admission in MBA. Iam

planning to go for a visa interview in Canada/Mexico. Do you have any

suggestions for me in this regard. Can you suggest me how to go about F1

visa extension for my second masters.

        Thanks,
        Priya

Everything is the same as before. You have to prove your non-immigrant intent.

I think you can also go for F1 stamping on OPT. I remember one person did it successfully.
