OPT help

Hi,

I'm looking for some help as I'm a little confused over some OPT regulations.

I graduated in May with my MS and am currently on OPT. I have accepted a job offer from a company who applied for H1b visa on my behalf which got picked in the lottery and I'll get it n October. Now the thing is that I don't start work until late September and I have nothing to do between now and then. I'm thinking of joining a short study course but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that on OPT. I was filling up the application and it was asked if I'm an international student. I know that if I say I am they will generate an I-20 for me. Will that cause any problems?

Talk to the school international office. I wouldn't recommend doing this.

When did you apply for OPT? Before or after the new regulation was implemented?

I applied in March. My OPT began on 1st July. I think the new regulations apply to me.
