Hi,
My friend is facing an identification problem in US.
His first name is Rahul and his last name is Yadav.
Unfortunately for him, his passport does not carry his surname and his given name is mentioned as Rahul Yadav.
As per US visa application, its mandatory to have a surname, so he received his student VISA as FNU Rahul Yadav and this name got carried over to all his documents such as I-20/ I-94.
Now he has started working and he recently received his OPT card and SSN with the name displayed as Yadav Rahul. That is to say, his first name and last name got swapped on these important IDs in US.
He checked with USCIS and they informed him that he needs to correct the name on his OPT and SSN to “FNU Rahul Yadav” to have the name consistency in records.
Has anyone faced this FNU issue before? Can someone help my friend as how to resolve this identity problem in US
He wants all his records to be consistent with first name as Rahul and last name as Yadav.
I will appreciate if someone can help my friend in this regard.
