How long is an F2 visa granted?

My husband is already a Dependent Visa holder of a Diplomat holder (his dad) He is applying for a student Visa so that he can get me there. I just want to ask the F2 visa holders out there if how long will it take to wait if my husband already have an F1 visa in USA?? please email me.. [email protected]..

My experienceis that generally they provide for the same duration as F1 ( Duration of status ), but ask only for smaller duration to have better chances as I got rejected once when asking for same duration (5 yrs), and got approved later on asking for 1 year though it was approved for 5 years (D/S).
