Health insurance for F1 student

Hi

Can anybody please let me know if I can continue with my husband's health insurance after transfering my visa from H4 to F1 ? or I have to take University's Health Insurance to maintain my F1 status?

You can continue with your coverage under your husband's policy. Be prepared to prove that you have the coverage.

Some schools require repatriation of remains coverage for F1 students. If needed, your regular insurance from the spouse many not cover it.

Most universities have a specific set of requirements that must be met for them to consider it a valid insurance.

You can either take such compliant insurance either from the university itself or from an outside, which can be either an individual policy or a group policy like you get from your spouse's work.

However, as txh1b pointed out, many universities have requirements such as 'Emergency Evacuation', 'Repatriation of Remains' which may not be met by regular insurance that people get through an employer.
