How safe it is to go to India when on OPT??

Hi ,

I am currently on OPT and I have a valid F1 visa till Feb 2012
I am working in a highly reputed company since June 2008.

I am planning for a short vacation in India.
I like to know what are the risks involved in travelling to India on OPT.
What are the documents I need to take before I leave US?

I am asking this since on my OPT card, its written “Not valid for re-entry to US”.

There is one more issue. The name on my EAD does not match with the name on my VISA/I-94.
I have a visa with name “FNU SIDDHARTH GUPTA”, while on EAD, I have my name as “GUPTA,SIDDHARTH”.
Will this be a major problem when I will re-enter in US?

I will be very glad if someone can give me a guidance in this regard.

AFAIK it is ok to travel outside while on OPT. In your case you have a valid visa.
It will be good to carry a letter from your employer that you will continue your practical training on returning.
