  • H1 documents for H4 to F1 visa transfer

Hi there... My wife (currently on H4) is going to apply for F1 in India.
** Apart from general F1 documents, does she need to have any of my (H1) documents with her at the time of her interview? If yes, please let me know the list of those documents.
** What costume is recommended? For H4, she went in traditional clothes, but I am not sure what costume is expected from the potential student.
    Thanks in advance...

    Costumes ...

... are generally tricky. It all depends upon what specialty or field the student is going for higher education.

For example, if you're going for a doctorate, then you dress accordingly, with a full suit, tie, a beard and long hair.

However, if you're going for B.S. or similar education, then you may want to dress hip as the current American styles.

    Good luck.

She should not mention your H1 at all unless asked about. As an F1 you have to prove that you are not intending to stay in the US. So prepare those answers well, stop worrying about costumes leave those for costume parties.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Do not, do not, do not ....

... try to hide any information. Witholding relevant information or falsification may result in a situation where the applicant may be blacklisted completely.

I am not saying hide information, don't mention unless asked for.
The DS form will ask what your husband's status is and she must answer H1.

You are right... DS form anyway mentions that I am on H1... In that situation, what H1 documents she should carry with her? As it is not a H4 application, they may not need all of my H1 documents, but I am sure there must be some important documents she needs to carry...
