  • F1 returning student without GRE

    Hi,
My wife has a change of status from H4 to F1 for MS in Comp.Sci. and has completed 3 semesters. We are travelling to India now and she needs to get her visa stamped. Her school has waived GRE for her admission. Do the consulate people mandate GRE score even in this case?

    Thanks!
    Vinay

    GRE is not mandatory.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

GRE scores are not required by the consulate, they only sometimes ask for it to check the person's credentials. If asked she can answer that GRE was not required by the university.
However, if I-20 mentions English proficiency requirement she may be asked for TOEFL/IELTS score.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
