I am applying for student visa for Fall 2004 in University of North Texas. My GRE score is 1010/1600 and 4.5/6.0 in analytical writing. My vocab isnt that good. My toefl score is 260/300 and 5.0/6.0. I am worried that my GRE score will be a hindrance in getting visa. I have to go to Chennai Consulate as I am from south India and I heard the officers there are very strict. Please advice me how I should prepare myself to answer their questions and get visa.

hi
well am not too sure all the VO's look into the score very much but then again it depends on what kind of course youre planning to take in the US.. i came here to study music and i just had TOEFL scores with partial scholarship so i had no problems with that ( my college did not ask for GRE or anything like that in any case).... but there are a few things that i would like to share with you when it comes to the interview..
Make sure you have all the documents proving that you have a strong financial backing and youre not by any means gonna depend on the US government for the money... you have strong ties to come back to india..and you have the confidence that whatever you study is of utmost importance to you and not just a channel to finding you a job..in other words you have a passion in what youre doing.. but above all youre scores, youre documents and everything the one thing that would real speak loud for you is CONFIDENCE!.. thats one thing you have to keep in mind.. how you present youre self is also a key factor.all the best with the interview.. its a scarry thought but you can nail it with confidence.!
Cheers
