    Faq about off campus work

    Dear friends,

    I am studying in USA as F-1 in graduate program. I am a foreign national. I have finished my first semester. I am doing some on campus work. So I got my SSN. I want to work some off campus work in weekend. I need to use my SSN. Can any one tell me is there any legal issue to work off campus job. I appreciate u’r help.

    Offcampus work on F1 is illegal.

    I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

      You can only work in your field of study and that too after obtaining permission from your DSO under CPT or applying for OPT.
      You cannot legally work at gas stations etc.
