  • F-1 Help needed,VERYVERYURGENT

    Hello,
I was on a visitors visa in USA purely and solely on the purpose of visiting a few cousins and friends of mine.during a visit to one of my friend's college,I happened to meet a few professors and other people who encouraged me take my Sat's and toefl and apply to some universities in USA.
Luckily i got admission into one of the universities for fall08 and i went to my international advisor who gave me three options for my visa,
    1.Change of status
2.go to homecountry and get the visa
3.Go to canada or mexico and get your visa as a third country national
I didnt go in for change of status as i felt it wasnt the right way and also i didnt have much time.
I didnt prefer going back to my homecountry and gettting it as there was very less time as i had decided very late on choosing whether to study abroad or not and my orientation had already started
So i chose going to canada as a third country national and getting my visa.
I went to canada and attened the interview but they said everything is fine except that i was a third country national and my homecountry visa officers would be the best persons to evaluate the decision and the officer in canada asked me to go back to my home country and get my visa
In the process she also cancelled my visitors visa without prejudice and said that was mandatory.
Now i deferred my admission to january 09 and iam in my homecountry in asia and i want to attend my interview on January 2nd as my orientation is starting on 12th of january.
I just want to know what should i do and act according to my situation.
Any advice would be of great great great help
    Thanks

Attend for the visa and based on the result decide. What else can you do? I fail to understand what you are looking for from the forum.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

        Hello

I will attend the interview but i just want to know my chances and i have never overstayed during my other visits to the states and also i have never disrespected or acted against any US laws when i was in that country.
But you nkow the whole canada visa not issuing thing and also the whole unexpected applying for the universities during my visit.I dont want them to leave a negative mark on my file ,so i just want to know what would be the reaction of the officer or It would also help if someone would state any prior cases which are or almost similar to mine.

No one can predict the chances. If you prove ties to your home country, you might be successful.

You trying to change to F1 while on a visit to US will likely work against you. Also trying to avoid the home country for a visa stamping earlier is a negative.

          Good luck!

Try explaining the officer at the consulate why u tried to avoid stamping at ur home country previously...tht u had the start of term etc.

Also, prove ur ties with ur home country. Property papers, mentioning ur parents etc. would help.
