  • F1 and F2 Together - Urgent!

    Hi

One of my friend wishes to apply for student visa. She already has B1/B2 for 10 years. She is married and has a daughter. Her daughter does not hold any visa. My Questions are:

    1. Can they both (My friend and her daughter but NOT her husband) apply for the F1 and F2 at the same time? Is it advisable? One of my friend said, its good to get the F1 first goto US and then have her daughter apply for F2, because chances of getting rejected is high if applying together (is that correct?). She is very much confused and dont know what to do. She wants to take her daughter with her thinking her daughter cant live without her. Her husband wishes to stay back in india and has no intensions to go to US.

    2. What happens to B1/B2 visa if her F1 is rejected for any reason?

Immediate answers to above is highly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Her husband not applying for a visa could be good because she then has a good tie with home country. I don't think having her daughter apply with her is bad.

Some visa officers cancel previous visas before interview, some do it afterwards, some do not cancel at all.

Many thanks Kabkaba!! Appreciate your immediate answers.

So, does it mean that she risk getting her visa cancelled even if she does not get F1?

      Thanks again.

Yes, it depends though like already mentioned. If the VO feels that she will be a potential immigrant, that is grounds for revoking B1/B2 as well.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
