F1 status expired

Hi everyone,
I was studying in a university and did my masters in a good academic standing. My visa was expired 2 years back but had my I-20. I did not realized it was expired too. After talking to the International Students Office at my university, I filed a petition twice and have not gotton any response of the petition. It will be greatly appriciated if anyone has any suggestions for me getting my status back. I have not done anything except for filing that petition so far. Please write me back. Thanks!

as far as i know, you have fallen out of status--because of your I-20, not because of your visa.
You just have to apply for reinstatement through the school, and it will cost you around 300.
but it's just from what i know from my friends.
