H4 to F1 confusion

I am here studyin on H4. My husband is working on H1 and has I-140 approved. I am not there on any of those petitions. I am confused if its a better option to do a COS from H4 to F1 now and then go for a visa stamping to India in December with the COS approval or just go now and get a F1 stamp and come.

Will an already approved COS help me to get a stamp or will it go against me.

Approved COS may help, but not necessarily. Your chances of getting the Visa should be the same whether now or later unless something changes (If you suddenly buy a lot of property in home country in next December, that may improve your chances). From what I have heard COS could take 6 months.
