  • CPT / Approval notice to stamping

    Hi All,
    Quick questions:

1.) I applied for COS and will get approval letter soon - How do I apply for CPT?

2.) After I get COS approval letter - Do I need stamping as a pre-requiste for applying for OPT?

What is the COS for? Be clear in your post.

COS is Change of Status. I just saw an update online that my approval notice has been sent.

I know what a COS is. How/what does it apply for in your case?

        Whatever.....

          I misunderstood ur question:

Actually, I'm on H4 and filed for COS and got approval notice.

My question is: Is stamping a pre-prequisite for OPT application.

Can I go from aproval notice to OPT or do I need stamping for OPT application?

            1. NO as long as you qualify for OPT
            2. YES as long as you qualify for OPT

There are some requirements to qualify for OPT. You cannot just get a COS just before graduation to F1 and expect a OPT. My memory is faint on this as it has been a while. Your ISO should be able to guide you on this matter.

I think you should have been a FT student for 9 months.
