can I arrive to a different state first thank that on my visa then go to specified 1?

Hi I m Ramana,
I got my visa on Texas a&m Kingsville. I booked my air ticket to Washington DC for DEC 29 and would like to stay there with my friends and relatives and celebrate my new year and then move to Texas. Now is it a must for me to first go to Texas report there and then go somewhere or can I do according to what I planned i.e.; first to VA and after some 4 or 5 days to TX? Should I show any proof for that about where I m going to stay in VA or the ticket to Texas dates post 4 or 5 days of my arrival?
please do help me as soon as possible as i should book my ticket

Yes, you can go to DC first for few days and then move on to TX. No problem.
