  • Travelling on an unexpired F1 from another school

I recently graduated with a bachelors degree from a Union College in NY. I'm currently doing a masters program at UCSB in California. I want to visit canada during next springbreak.

My visa to Union expires in Aug 2010. And I currently have a new I20 from UCSB too. My question is : is it safe to travel to canada since the visa on my passport says "Union College" and not UCSB? Would it be sufficient if I just showed them my "Union college" Visa and "UCSB" I20 as well as the expired "Union" I20? I've heard that some people have experienced difficulties when they try to reenter the USA with a visa from there old bachelors degree school.

Please let me know if you guys have traveled like this or if it's not advisable.

There is no problem in doing this. Only first time entry should be with the same school. You should be able to explain your case to the IO.
Also, if your stay in Canada is less than 30 days and if you are not traveling to any other country, you can retain your I-94 and be admitted even if your visa has expired.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
