OPT start date - Please help

Hi Friends,

My school DSO asked me why my degree is getting over and entered the OPT start date from the next date.

Degree end date: 5/28/1010
OPT Start Date - 5/31/2010

Even if I apply today, I won't be able to start on 5/31 since it takes 90 days for the card to come.

Is OPT start date something the student choses or the school DSO gives?

OPT start date is something the student choses, but you have to start the OPT within 60 days after your degree completion date.
Also, 90 days is the maximum time it can take for the EAD to be processed, but in reality they get processed in about 2 months.
