Hi,
I came to US with H4 with my husband. I joined graduate school and changed my visa to F1. I am currently in F1 status. I have a valid I-20. I have not got a stamping for F1. I did not travel out of USA. But now I need to travel to Dominic Republic for a course work. Can I travel with my I-20 and re enter US without any problem? Should I go for a visa stamping to enter USA again? or my I-20 is good enough? I spoke to my university international service officer, she says I shoud be able to re enter without a visa stamping and that she will give me a letter to show the immigration officer at the port of entry. But I am a little hesitant as I read other forums that say to enter USA you need a valid visa stamping. I am confused. The course starts in a month and I need to figure out the process. It will be very helpful if someone can answer my question. Please guide me.
