i am currently on my h4 visa,planing to shift to f1 .I have an admission letter from a colg. Pl advise me about the documents required for change of status & approx amount to be shown in the bank statement also do i have to show my husbands bank statement(in US) or can i use my dads(in India) also. Pl also give me answers to the common questions asked in the interview (like why am i changing to f1 as i can study on h4 also)

You will definitly need to have at least the amount shown on your I-20.
Also, you must make sure to have that balance until you F-1 is approved.

1. Cover Letter
2. Form I-539
3. Original I-20
4. copy I-94 of the applicant
5. copy I-797 of the applicant
6. Check for $300 in favor of ‘U.S. Department
of Homeland Security’
7. Payment confirmation of SEVIS fee of $200
8. Photocopies of applicant’s relevant passport
pages
9. Affidavit of support from my sponsor (form
I-134), who is also my husband
10. Sponsor’s Financial statement summary
11. Original bank transaction statement
12. Sponsor’s Bank statements for last three
months
13. Statement of sponsor’s brokerage account
14. Proof of sponsor’s employment stating his
immigration status and current salary
15. Sponsor’s pay stubs (last 3 pay stubs)
16. Photocopy of sponsor’s I-797 document

COS from H4 to F1...Pls help

Hi,

I'm on H4 which is valid until SEP 2013. I'm planning to convert my H4 to F1. I have got I20 from a university and I have also completed 1 term in the university . Now my concerns are
1) For I20 I have submitted my mothers (who is abroad) bank letter. Can i submit the same for F1 also?
2) If yes for the above question. Will the balance need to be maintained for last 3 months in my mothers account. Do i need to submit three months average ?
3)Do we need to pay SEVIS fee while on H4 ? or do we need to pay when i apply for F1

Please help me by providing your precious inputs. Thanks
