Hi,
I have a question about OPT while on F1.
I was in US on F1 with my wife on F2. My I-20 had validity dates from Aug-2000 to July-2003.
I graduated in June-2003 and applied for OPT and received my EAD-card with dates Aug-2003 to July-2004.
My question is, did I have to renew my I-20 also (for me as well as my wife, who was on F2) while I was on OPT. Or is it even possible to get a new I-20 while on OPT?
Currently, my attorney is filing my I-485 and she is collecting all the proofs showing that I and my wife were in vaid status through-out the last 10 years and she thinks that not having an I-20 during my OPT period (Aug-2003 to July-2004) could be a problem and I should try to get one from somewhere.
I was of an impression that my OPT card (EAD Card) itself is the proof of my valid status.
Any thoughts on this one? Do I need to get a I-20 to prove my status? And if yes, is there a way I can get it now?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
