F1 worked outside 20hr limit

Hi,

A friend of mine, die to hardship situations, worked for a private contractor ourside his 20hr work permit. he filed taxes on these earnings too. is there a way for him to redeem this to the USCIS? What can he do to solve this? will this affect his renewal?
