Hi,
I am currently residing in the U.S on H4 visa and I got admitted into a full-time professional certificate program in one of the prestigious universities in the U.S. After receiving I-20 for Fall-2020 I applied I-539 online and submitted SEVIS fees. However, I did not mail USCIS the required documents yet. Now the university has changed the program as online certification only for this Fall and the issued I-20 is nullified as the program is not a full-time course for this semester.
The DSO has advised me to defer to the Spring semester and spring enrollment will be a full-time program on-campus.
Should I now start a new I-539 for Spring-2021 or I can send USCIS new I-20 with Spring start date by mail and a cover letter explaining the reason to defer?
Please advise on any other options as well. Thank you
