Visa renewal 221g possibility?

I have been in the US for almost 4 years on F1 visa. I am presently working on my PhD degree. I was given 221g 4 years ago when I applied for the first time in Fall 2006, which took almost 10 weeks for clearance. My visa is going to expire in August (I was given only 4 years visa). I would have to reapply for visa on my next visit to India.

I would like to know if there are any chances of getting 221g again for F1 visa.

Hello,

A 221g is issued if the applicant has failed to provide documents, or a further procedure is required. It is possible that you may get a 221g, but that does not mean that you will get one.
