Name Discrepancies in Passport and F1 Visa,Urget pls help!

Hi

I have quite a few problems.
I have an Indian Passport with a first name- Ashwin Kumar and surname left blank!

The univ from which I got my i20 bifurcated by name First Name-Ashwin LastName-Kumar

They assured me that I wont have a problem with Visa.

Now here is my question. I heard the FNU situation in Visa which is inevitable right now could lead to problems with getting SSN! please advise me about it.

considering that I enter my last name as Ashwin Kumar in DS-160 and SEVIS fee receipt web form, what is the best course of action to avoid problems in USA regarding SSN..

I am confused greatly! The best I can do now with the limited time is to get my name bifurcated in my passport after I get my Visa..would it help?? Because if i get it bifurcated now it could lead to lots of discrepencies for I have already filled my visa application form as last name Ashwin Kumar!!

Please help me clear this mess up...
