Questions about getting the F-1 US Student Visa from the American Embassy in Lebanon

Hey guys. I had some questions about getting the student visa interview at the American Embassy in Lebanon:

• Did you have to wait a while to get an appointment? The US embassy has the option to calculate the average wait time on their website, but it seems to be down at the moment and when you call, you can only speak to a human if you're American.
• How long does it take for the decision to be made? I know for the tourist visa, you find out on the spot and then get your passport a week later. Is it the same for student visas?Appvn
• If you're getting sponsored by a family member, do you know if it matters that they're in Lebanon or can they be in the States?
• Finally, how tough was it? Any tips on how to prepare besides having all thSHAREite paperwork needed?
