  • L2 extension I-539 withdrawal

Hello, I had applied for L2 extension with USCIS in June2020 which is pending for decision. While this application was pending, I visited consulate in India and got F1 visa since i will be attending university. I had sent a withdrawal letter for pending I-539 a month ago but the online status is showing " your fingerprints were taken on ...." so basically it is still under process. I will be coming back to US next week. I have following questions if you can help.

    1. Is it possible that USCIS continue to process my pending L2 extension? How can i make sure that it is withdrawn before making decision?
    2. In worst case if they process and approve L2 extension after i enter on F1, will my status change to L2 again? and if yes what i have to do to change back to F1 with having valid visa?

    Your responses are much appreciated.

As per USCIS, which is from the conference call they hosted, they typically would take about 17 days on average to complete the I-539 biometric process from the day they receive the I-539 application(assuming no re-schedules).
