Urgent: My F1 visa expired, I-20 valid, any problem for wife F2 visa interview?

Hi,
I need urgent help on this matter. My F1 visa expired in June 2010, but my I-20 is valid till May 2011.

Is this going to create any problem for my wife's F2 visa interview on Aug 12? How long will they give her visa? I have written in DS 160 form till May 2011 that is for 9 months time.

Please respond about this urgently. Thanks a lot.

Visa is just needed to enter the U.S. You are in student status and that's all that matter for your wife's visa.

Her visa will be issued for five years, i think. But I am not sure. Her status will depend on your status in that as long as you are on student status, she can stay here on F2.

You should be aware of I-20 expiration date. That will put you out of status. Visa matters only if you are entering US. So don't travel outside US on expired visa if you want to come back to US.

Did your wife finally got F2 visa or not. Pls let me know, i have same condition and planning to apply f2 visa for my wife in march 2015.
