Hi, I am a Indian citizen working on H1b in US. I am going to go for further studies and need to go back to India to change my visa from h-1b to F-1.However, given that the situation in India is really bad(I have an appointment on May 6th) and my classes start in June, I am reconsidering if I should go to other countries like Mexico to get my F-1 visa? I don't know the repercussions or if it is detrimental to apply from another country but given the grave situation in india, I am left with no option but to consider this. Also, I am not sure how long I have to stay in the foreign country till I get my passport back if incase my visa is approved. Anyone can shed light on this would be very helpful.
