  • Proof of intent to return

I have practically been accepted by a college to do a 2 years associate degree in graphic design and have money in the bank and a sponsor.

My main worry is proof of intent to return.

    A little background first.

I have a USC girlfriend and have visited the US 3 times this year on a VWP, spending 4 months in total over the three visits.

My 3rd visit, I had to go through secondary inspection and was allowed to spend 2 months here on my VWP after many questions from the officer. He advised if I am to come back to the US, I should apply for a tourist visa.

However, I am at a stage of my life where I want to go back to school and study. My girlfriend has offered to allow me to stay at her house while I take my studies and has signed an I-134 for me. I should add that neither of us has any intention of marrying at present either.

The college will soon be issuing me with the I-20 and sometime this autumn, I will have the interview for the visa. My course start date would be January.

I am English, but live in France. I own two properties there outright, and have of course bank accounts etc. I am still married (as is my girlfriend) and we are both in the process of going through our respective divorces, which will probably come through later this year - after my interview I would imagine.

I really want to take the course, I have worked in the field before, but without the qualification. Of course to get another job in that field would require me to have the qualification, which is the main reason in going back to school. I cannot do the course in France as my French is nowhere good enough to study with and anywhere else, I wouldn't be able to afford.

How do you rate my chances of getting the visa? What else can I do to prove intent in returning to France or the UK after the course?
